Dear Storm Family,

Today is our CPK fund raiser, please be sure to view the information about it below.

I'd like to thank everyone who helped out at the Invitational meet, I know just how hard everyone worked! and I can honestly say that a meet this size is an amazing thing to behold, I think the official count was 1537 athletes participated in 2641 events, there were 175 Relay teams. We had 242 athletes at the meet! In another day or so, I will try to update the statistics page.

This Week's Track Meet
We are at home at Valencia High School we will be hosting the Running Rebels and the Golden Bears, it should be a very fast meet. This will probably be our smallest meet, but we will still have a great meet, with lots of tough competition. This is our last regular meet of the season and the last chance for an athlete to qualify for western league championships on May 7th. see more details about championship meets below.

We are going to need help with bringing stuff to the track from our storage unit across the street and at the end, I will send out a urgent text letting everyone know that we've started the 200 meter runs, this is a great time to start breaking down all field events (they should be done by then), and we can actually move some of the equipment to the storage unit, We need help in moving the PA system and the tents for the field events back to the storage. We should be down to just the timing by the end of the 200's and the timing crew can handle that.

Volunteer Opportunities
Attention all Storm Families:

Thank you to all that volunteered this past week, we truly appreciate your time and support! I know that it got hot, and we had a lot of coaches and volunteers working the meet. Many working in the concession stand, and some working as officials at the field events, Tom, Zach and Alan working the timing, to keep the meet moving forward.

This week will be our last regular season meet, So we want the kids to get the best times, and marks in their events, as this will be the last time they can qualify for league finals. Please be sure to sign up and help out by working the meet.

Championship Meets Coming Up
Open Final Meet (April 30) The open final meet is for all athletes who did not get a qualifying mark in any of the individual events, OR ranked top 8 in the western league. It will be held on April 30th. This is the final meet of the season for those athletes. If an athlete has a qualifying mark in any event they may not attend this meet.

Western League Championship Meet (May 7th) All qualified athletes and a select few athletes in the top of the league will be invited to the Western League Championship meet to be held on May 7th. The coaches will attend a seeding meeting of the League to finalize the seeding of this championship meet. Non-qualified athletes will fill any open positions in any events by the top 20 list of the league. If you are interested in being advanced to this meet, please let your coach know.

Individual Event Championship Meet (May 14th) This is the final event of the year at the conference level. The top four (4) finishers in each event from both leagues (East & West) and the next fastest times/marks will be invited to compete in this Conference wide Championship meet to be held this year at Valley College on May 14. This is a 10 lane track, so in the sprint events we will advance up to 10 athletes. The distance events advance 12 athletes, and the field events 9. All advancements to this meet come from the meet on the 7th there are no pass-through athletes, you must attend the meet on May 7th. This is the best of the Conference championship meet. If you need more information please be sure to ask your coach.

Team Picnic & Awards - May 15 Will be at Newhall Park on Newhall Ave. We will give you more details about this in the next 2 newsletters.

The communication boxes will be at the track on Wednesday and Thursday this week for picture pick-up, and your athletes meet ribbons. If you think you are missing ribbons from any of the meets, please send an email to us to let us know the meet and the event that is missing.
