Dear
Storm Family,
Hello Team!!!
Well we are off
to a fast start,
it's hard to
imagine we are
beginning the
4th week
tonight. Time is
flying. It is
typical in past
years that I
would write a
newsletter each
week so I have
to apologize to
start that this
is the first.
I've had a bit
of a crazy work
schedule since
the beginning of
August so I am
happy I haven't
had to miss more
days.
With that said,
and it's never
good to start
with an apology,
let's move on to
the exciting
news!
We had a great
time at the
second beach
day. For those
of you who
missed it,
bummer, now you
have to wait a
whole year to
experience it
again. For those
of us who made
it, we
experienced some
amazing weather,
great running on
the beach and
trails, and the
pleasure of
gaining some new
friendships.
This team is a
family so don't
be afraid if you
are a newbie to
jump right in
and get to know
some people.
You'll find out
when the meets
start, we're out
there for each
other to cheer
on all the
athletes.
Parents, I asked
a couple weeks
ago if some of
you would like
to become more
of an official
coach. I need
you so please
don't hesitate
to let me know.
I really just
need two things
for your to
qualify: follow
the prescribed
workout schedule
and you are able
to lead with a
strong voice. On
a separate note,
we had the
unfortunate
run-in with the
baseball coach
at COC. Let me
remind us all of
a couple things:
first is that we
are a very large
team so when we
show up to
practice with
150+ kids that
can be
intimidating to
just about
anyone around.
So please help
me out with
keeping the kids
as contained as
possible. I was
a boy and just
as rambunctious
as some of ours,
but we have to
work to keep
them under our
supervision.
Second, we need
to make sure
there are only 2
spokesmen for
our club, me and
coach Elaine.
Please don't
engage in antics
of other people
as that only
starts to put a
black mark on
Storm. We are
the most
successful youth
running team in
this valley,
state and
probably
country. That
now comes with
somewhat of a
target and there
will always be
grumpy people
who don't like
success. So help
me and Coach
Elaine out by
keeping a close
eye on all of
the kids and
letting us know
if you have any
encounters with
not so happy
people.
Alright let's
get on to this
week and the
athletes. It's
going to be
blazing hot for
a couple days so
please remember
to eat and drink
well during the
day. Bring a
water bottle
with you to
school and fill
it up a couple
times. If your
teachers make a
comment about
the water
bottle, share
with them why
you need it.
They should be
understanding
and think it's
great what you
are doing.
As we keep
increasing the
distances we run
it is critical
you maintain
your body's
health by
stretching extra
at home if you
feel a little
tightness,
rolling out with
a foam roller,
icing sore
joints and
muscles, eating
healthy,
sleeping well,
and above all
have a great
attitude! I told
you all at the
first practice
it will take 3
weeks of
consistency
before you start
to feel like you
are in control
and maybe even
enjoying it
more. Well the
time is upon us
so let's get
after it this
week! Just
because you have
crested the hill
doesn't mean now
our workouts are
easier. It means
your body has
adapted and can
now take on more
work. At this
point, you are
just stronger
and you'll be
able to run with
more confidence!
So let me see it
this week!
Let's have some
fun!
Coach Jeremy
