Kicked off
with a bang!
Well team,
how was the
first race?
From my
perspective
it was a
fantastic
start to the
season. We
trained hard
this week
with
increased
time,
distance,
pace, and
hills. So
to see
everyone gut
out amazing
races made
me proud. I'll
highlight
some great
performances
tomorrow.
For now,
it's time to
evaluate
your first
race. Here
are some
things to
ask
yourself:
1. Did you
give it your
all?
2. Did you
go out too
easy and had
too much
energy left
at the
finish? If
so practice
being a
little more
aggressive
this week at
the
beginning of
workouts.
3. Did you
go out too
hard and
blow up?
Next race
work on
being a
little more
relaxed at
the
beginning.
4. If your
goal is
nationals,
check your
position
after
yesterday.
Remember
that race
didn't count
and also had
kids from
outside our
conference.
But.... we
saw other
teams in our
conference
have really
stepped up
their
training.
The top 20
is really
close. So
at this
point if you
are within
1:30-2:00
from top 8,
work harder,
smarter and
set your
goals! Next
week you can
move up the
rankings.
Onto this
week's
training:
First, we
aren't
backing off.
It's time
to keep the
pedal down.
We'll
increase
distance for
some, and
everyone
will work
more on
speed and
hills and
get ready
for more
battle. You
can and will
improve.
IF...you
want to. I
can't do it
for you.
I'll
encourage,
I'll give
you tools,
but... you
have to want
it.
so let's go
get it!
Push each
other to
greatness!
Here's a new
section also
to keep you
hungry:
Alumni
update:
We are
fortunate to
have such an
amazing
group of
athletes to
pave the way
for you. I
want to
highlight 4
of our youth
girls now
racing in
high
school.
Kaeyla
Beretta is
racing for
Saugus and
currently
ranks 8-9 th
on that
storied
girls
varsity
squad.
Sarah
Benitez is
running for
Crescenta
valley and
will quickly
become an
asset to
their
varsity
squad.
Audrey dang
is running
on the
varsity
squad of the
mighty great
oak team and
just won the
seaside
invitational
last Friday
clocking one
of the
fastest
freshman
times ever
and a top 10
girls time
of the day.
Haley Kirsch
finished the
same seaside
race less
than 1
second
behind her
ex storm
teammate to
show
southern
California
where all
the talent
comes from.
You said it,
Santa
Clarita
Storm Track
Club!!!
Go after it
this week!!
Have fun,
