Dear Storm
Family,
Storm Team,
Congratulations
on a fantastic
week of training
with the epic
culmination of
an incredible
O'Melvany race!
Take a look at
the all-time
lists from last
year and see how
you stacked up.
The top 10 is
being completely
re-written!!
I want to
acknowledge a
handful of
amazing
performances:
how about Baylin
Bingham coming
back from a
lackluster
performance at
El Cariso to
crush the
all-time top 10
as the new #1.
I have to
acknowledge this
youth girl named
Aleesa Stepan
for what I like
to call a
break-out
performance and
week of training
with a #6 on the
all-time list.
Kelly Avila had
a gutsy race
after being sick
for the week to
complete the
amazing midget
girls powerhouse
effort. And
last mention is
Bart Pida for
being stopped
feet from the
finish line to
prove he was
actually
supposed to
finish and not
run another
lap. Bart,
here's the
lesson, you
gotta work on
your kick a
little more so
you look like
you are
finishing!!
Ha. Partially
kidding, since I
didn't see it I
am just making a
joke out of it.
Great job man,
and you are now
#6 all-time, 1
second ahead of
one of our
greats Rylan
Wadkins.
I challenged you
last week to
pick up the
pieces from El
Cariso, learn
something from
the race, and
set your sites
on your
competition!
Everyone did
that. I had
many of you tell
me how you
picked it up the
second lap and I
saw it in your
times and more
importantly your
place. On race
day I challenged
each of you to
look at your
teammates and
tell them you
were going to
give 110% for
them. Alright,
kind of corny
for the youth...
but it worked
and when you
know someone
else is counting
on you, your
motivation
increases
dramatically.
So let's have
another amazing
week! We're
preparing for
our home course
and the league
invitational.
Should we back
down in training
this week?
..... good
answer, no
way!! So what
do we have in
store?
Monday night
we'll run flat
and long so be
ready, it's
supposed to be
hot again.
Tuesday we'll
hit the hills
but this time in
a shorter
interval set,
not a continuous
hill run.
Thursday we're
going to run
some tempo again
mainly on flat
parts of central
park. And of
course we gotta
keep up with
core all three
days.
Saturday was
such a great day
with the team.
I loved watching
the younger kids
staying around
and cheering for
the older kids.
You guys have
figured it out.
It's no mistake
how the gremlins
progress to
become
superstars as
youth. And, the
youth of today
are paving the
way for the
gremie's and
bantams and
midgets. Our
team is so
special. Let's
remember a
couple things
for the coming
meets: I love
our camp and
being together
so make sure you
are working hard
to help anyone
sitting alone
feel like a part
of the family.
I wish I could
sit with each of
you at every
race and hang
out. But that's
what you get to
do while I'm
enjoying your
kids. Also at
the end of the
race do us a
great big favor
and if you
haven't left,
stick around for
5 more minutes
to help get
tents taken down
and loaded.
Alan and Elaine
show up, much to
Alan's
disgruntledness,
before many of
us are even
awake. They
love to get the
spot setup for
us! Let's not
make them the
last one's
standing putting
everything
away. Don't
take this the
wrong way, this
is their
passion. I'd
just love to see
a handful more
of us making
quick work of it
at the end. So
thanks for
taking my
encouragement in
that!!
What's left, not
much. It's time
to get some
sleep and wake
up ready to
attack another
great week!!
Thanks for your
enthusiasm, you
support, and
sharing your
families and
kids with me!
